Engineer - Software-Defined Vehicle Simulation and Development

NIKI is looking for graduates of Technical University Departments/Schools of Sciences/Engineers, or similar disciplines to support and develop complex system simulation processes of software-defined vehicles.

What to expect

  • Develop and optimize process and simulation methods for complex vehicle development in collaboration with international industry partners and research organizations.
  • Continuously monitor industry trends and advances in simulation technology to improve NIKI's services and drive innovation.
  • Coordinate our interdisciplinary projects in close cooperation with our customers.

Task Description 

  • Modeling and simulation of complex systems and software functions. Focus on areas such as driving dynamics and autonomous driving.
  • Active cooperation with our customers. Programming of functions and algorithms for modern vehicle functions. Accompanying the process from the first idea to delivery.
  • Forward-looking development processes. Functional and vehicle development using the latest methods and tools, such as graphic modeling languages.
  • Empowering and coaching our clients.
  • Protection of software functions. Efficient implementation of technical security measures and criticality analysis of software functions.
  • Creation of test concepts. Development of automated test cases according to existing customer requirements. Test execution on the test bench or in road tests hedging concepts.
  • Development of new concepts for safeguarding networked systems (MIL/SIL/HIL) and also autonomous driving functions.
  • Development, commissioning, and testing of complex, multifunctional test benches.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality technical solutions.

Basic Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of modeling and numerical simulation of mechanical systems.
  • Familiarization with the application of simulation or design software tools.
  • Good knowledge of at least one of the languages: Python, Matlab or Java. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Spirit of innovation, initiative, and enjoyment of learning and tinkering.
  • Excellent command of English and technical terminology.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in the automotive industry, with a focus on vehicle development and simulation.
  • Initial knowledge of semi-formal modeling languages such as UML, SysML or Matlab/Simulink or initial experience in handling measurement technology or test benches, such as Vector, dSPACE, ETAS, or initial experience with control units and software in the embedded area.
  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaborations. 
  • Good command of the German language.
