Your team
We are looking for up to 15 recent graduates or young professionals with a bachelor's or master's degree, or who are currently studying for a PhD. You will be part of a team working on evaluating the economic impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This involves analysing inflation, implementing the sanctions decided on by the EU and European governments and evaluating their impact.
You will be allocated to a team that corresponds to your educational background, expertise and interests as well as to our organisational needs.

Your role
This traineeship offers you excellent opportunities for development, valuable experience and an insight into the tasks and working methods of the ECB and the European System of Central Banks (ESCB) as a whole. We will assign you an experienced colleague as a mentor to help you participate successfully in the programme.
As a trainee you may:
- participate in project-oriented work to ensure that business processes are properly conducted and well-supported;
- analyse data relating to monetary policy and banking supervision;
- draft and organise briefings, presentations, papers, reports and memos;
- help to conduct risk assessments and analyses;
- develop and implement benchmarking practices;
- collect, store, manage and share information in your area of responsibility.

Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential:
- be a Ukrainian citizen at least 18 years of age;
- for a traineeship paid at €1,070, a bachelor's degree or higher in economics, finance, statistics, accounting, financial/commercial/EU law, data science, political science, European studies, international relations, business administration, information technology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, or another relevant field;
- for a traineeship paid at €1,940, a master's degree and at least two years of PhD studies in one of the fields listed above;
- a keen interest in European affairs, central banking and banking supervision;
- no previous work/traineeship experience at the ECB;
- a good knowledge of the MS Office package;
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Desired:
- understanding of macroeconomics, the banking system, international finance or financial markets;
- sound programming skills (MATLAB, R, Python, Stata, etc.);
- data management experience and ability to handle micro data and large datasets;
- familiarity with computational/statistical/econometric software packages.
You are curious and eager to learn, and want to further develop your ability to analyse complex information. You are keen to collaborate with others, pursue team goals and learn from other people's diverse perspectives. You strive to know and anticipate stakeholder needs, and will signal any need for change and propose alternative solutions.

Traineeship of six months, possibly extendable to a year in the same or another business area of the ECB, and/or at one of the ESCB national central banks or national competent authorities. If you are selected, you would start between August and September 2022.
