Your team
You will be part of the Newsroom Division in the Directorate General Communications. Our Directorate General comprises around 300 staff communicating the official views of the ECB and informing the public and the media about the ECB’s tasks and organisation. We manage digital communications, media relations and public affairs, and lead the ECB’s efforts to engage effectively with staff. We are currently working on making the ECB more accessible to different audiences and reaching out to the general public directly, using the bank’s social media channels and websites.
In your role as a trainee, you will be part of the digital content team of around ten members of staff responsible for drafting and creating content for the ECB’s social media channels and websites, fostering awareness of ECB policymakers’ speeches and communicating directly with young Europeans via digital channels. You will work closely with press officers and multimedia experts to craft engaging content.
The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or other characteristics.
Your role
As a trainee you will:
- draft content for the ECB’s social media channels, including Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn;
- create engaging digital campaigns for different audiences to make the ECB better understood, in close cooperation with other communications teams and experts from across the bank;
- work with graphic designers and multimedia experts to create innovative visual content for digital channels, including videos and infographics;
- draft and edit content for the ECB’s websites;
- draft “teasers” summarising policymakers’ speeches, interviews and other key publications for the homepages of the ECB’s websites;
- support day-to-day content planning and assist with the longer-term editorial calendar.
The position offers you excellent opportunities to join a fast-paced environment and gain experience in a broad range of communications topics. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.
Qualifications, experience and skills
- a bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of communications, economics, international relations, business administration, political science, journalism, public relations, English or related subject areas;
- experience in communications and knowledge of the latest social media trends;
- a clear understanding of the mission, tasks and responsibilities of the ECB, and the ability to describe these in clear and simple terms that resonate with different target audiences;
- experience of creating content for digital channels;
- a basic understanding of digital communications strategy;
- a good knowledge of the MS Office package;
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
You are curious and eager to learn, and want to further develop your ability to analyse complex information. You are keen to collaborate with others, pursue team goals and learn from other people’s diverse perspectives. You strive to know and anticipate stakeholder needs, and will signal any need for change and propose alternative solutions.
You are motivated to contribute to the ECB’s mission, to serve the citizens of the EU as a member of a public institution and to work with colleagues from all over Europe. You are keen to be part of our team and to use your skills and competencies to achieve the objectives of this position.
