Your team
You will be part of the Business Partnering Division in the Directorate General Human Resources and will help us to deliver on our vision: thrilled and talented people working for a prosperous Europe. With around 100 staff members, the Directorate General provides services to approximately 3,500 employees.
The Business Partnering Division has four teams:
• HR Business Partners;
• Employee Partners;
• Talent Acquisition;
• Stakeholder Engagement Hub.
You will help us to develop and implement HR solutions and services that are agile, customer-centric and strategic in one or more of the following areas: talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion (D&I), business partnering, labour relations and stakeholder engagement, employee engagement, and career management.
The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or other characteristics.
Your role
As a trainee in the Business Partnering Division, you will contribute to the Division’s ongoing work and new initiatives. This will involve: preparing presentations, coordinating and drafting briefing requests, coordinating follow-up actions with different stakeholders, collecting data, conducting data analysis, carrying out market research or benchmarking studies, facilitating meetings and discussions with colleagues from all hierarchical levels, and assisting with the design of new HR initiatives and the organisation/delivery of various HR tasks, initiatives and events.
On the basis of your education, areas of expertise or knowledge, and – whenever possible – your preferences, you will be assigned to one or more of the following teams:
•HR Business Partners: you will support this team in acting as an interface between HR and other business areas for people and staffing matters. The team offers strategic guidance to the ECB’s leaders on people management topics, identifies and provides advice on business areas’ needs, including workforce planning and performance management, and follows up on staff engagement surveys, mobility initiatives and specific client-driven projects;
•Employee Partners: you will assist this team in supporting and inspiring employees during their career journey at the ECB. The team has five distinct roles: i) advise and coach on all aspects of professional career development, from mobility to a career outside the ECB, as a career partner; ii) provide advice on learning opportunities, as a learning partner; iii) support the onboarding of newcomers and enhance connectedness, as an engagement partner; iv) offer support in challenging situations and in preparing for difficult conversations, as a sparring partner; and v) to provide input into people policies and processes from the employee perspective, as the employee’s voice in the organisation;
•Talent Acquisition: you will support recruitment processes by conducting data analysis, organising and facilitating workshops, carrying out market research and benchmarking studies, and contributing to employer branding and talent attraction initiatives focused on students and graduates (e.g. representing the ECB at virtual career fairs), thereby helping to meet the ECB’s diversity targets;
•Stakeholder Engagement Hub – Labour Relations: you will help this team to support and facilitate HR’s interaction with the ECB’s internal and external staff representation bodies (Staff Committee and trade unions) by taking care of daily operations aimed at maintaining a healthy social dialogue, preparing for high-level meetings by planning and managing content with ECB managers and experts, and coordinating the follow-up with the ECB’s decision-making bodies;
•Stakeholder Engagement Hub – Diversity and Inclusion: you will assist this team in fostering diversity and a culture of inclusive behaviours at the ECB, contributing to D&I initiatives and supporting their implementation across the bank. You will also be involved in managing, as well as engaging and collaborating with, internal D&I stakeholders (e.g. leadership community, employee-led diversity networks, etc.) and supporting interactions with external stakeholders and other institutions on D&I best practices and experiences.
The positions offer you excellent opportunities to put into practice the knowledge you acquired during your studies, and you will gain an insight into the ECB’s activities and contribute to the ECB’s mission. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.
